A home for all

Accommodations

The first thing you’ll notice about Richmond Terrace is that it doesn’t feel like a long-term care home. Residents roam freely, enjoying all of our included amenities, giving our secure, temperature controlled building a community-based feel.

Richmond Terrace is a 128 bed home that provides four self-contained, beautifully furnished resident home areas with basic, semi-private, and private rooms with ensuite washrooms to accommodate both single and coupled residents. Additionally, every room has access to a telephone and cable outlet. Baths and showers are provided to residents at a minimum of twice per week to maintain healthy hygiene. To ensure safety, entrance doors, stairwells, and elevators all have controlled access with codes being provided upon request.

Located on the first floor, Richmond Terrace’s Gift Shop is a wonderful, volunteer-driven convenience store available to all our residents. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11-3. Multiple activity rooms are also available, including our retro-style kitchen and beautiful, naturally-lit atrium (open year round!).

No matter your age, moving can be a difficult process. That’s why we encourage residents to personalize their spaces with art, photography, afghans, furniture, pillows, etc. to help settle in. In the interest of safety, some items are prohibited, such as electric blankets, heating pads, refrigerators, extension cords, and area rugs.

To ensure ease of access and safety, each floor in our building hosts a dining room with assigned seating. This is done both to provide routine for residents and facilitate attendance checks. For those requiring assistance with meals, we have on-site staff ready to accommodate.

Resident Rooms

Televisions: We have provided televisions in resident lounges for resident’s use. Should a resident prefer their own television in their room, they may have cable installed. The resident or family member assumes the installation (provided by Rogers Cable) and financial responsibilities. In the interest of safety, we request that any electrical equipment brought into the home is checked by our Maintenance Department to ensure it is CSA-approved before it is used. Residents making use of radios and televisions will be expected to respect the rights of other residents.

Telephones: Should daily telephone calls be part of the resident’s routines, we suggest that installation of a private line. You may contact Bell Canada directly to arrange the installation. Residents are not permitted to use the telephones located at the nursing stations.

Ministry Inspections

Annual inspections are completed by the Ontario Ministry of Long Term Care.
