Residents’ Council

The Residents’ Council of Richmond Terrace functions to provide an active voice for those residents living in the home. Residents’ Council consists of a group of residents who meet monthly to provide residents with a voice to express concerns, exchange information, audit programs and express opinions to the Administration of the home.

Residents’ Council is involved in fundraising programs to raise money to purchase items for the home and to attend outings, etc. throughout the year (e.g. raffles, vending proceeds).

Residents’ Council meetings are held monthly and all residents are encouraged to participate.

Family Council

The Family Council consists of family members and friends of our residents whose function is to help improve the quality of life of residents and to give families and friends a voice in decisions that affect them and their loved ones.

Family Council provides mutual support, empowerment and advocacy to the family and friends of the residents at Richmond Terrace. Family council will strive to meet the needs of its members and the residents at Richmond Terrace.

  • A means to express concern and solve problems
  • Family input into decisions and changes
  • Support residents who do not have concerned families or friends
  • Two-way communication between the home and families
  • Promotes open and effective communication
Goals:
  • To ensure that the residents receive the care they need while maintaining their dignity and comfort
  • To address the issues, concerns and grievances of the residents and their families and pass these concerns on to the appropriate management level
  • To support families and friends of residents regarding the rights and needs of the residents, if needed
  • To work with families and friends, staff and management to provide the best caring environment possible
  • To provide forums to educate families, friends, staff, management and government regarding the needs and concerns of the residents
