Rehabilitation Programs

The Rehab team at Richmond Terrace is composed of a Rehabilitation Therapist (certified kinesiologist), a consulting Physiotherapist and Restorative Care Aides. This team is responsible for enhancing the quality of life for each resident by maintaining his/her dignity, self-esteem, and independence. The focus of rehabilitation is to improve and or maintain independence and the functional abilities of our residents.

Admission

Upon admission to Richmond Terrace each resident receives a comprehensive assessment by the Physiotherapist to determine eligibility for the Active Physiotherapy program. The resident also participates in a thorough mobility assessment to determine current level of functioning. Information from these assessments are used to determine appropriate goals for future mobility as well as any necessary assistive devices that are needed to maintain safety and good posture. An individualized therapy program is then designed to meet the goals and current needs of the resident. This program will be carried out with the assistance and encouragement of the Rehab team. Continual monitoring occurs to ensure success of the prescribed goals and absolute safety of the resident.
